Looking back on Charity:Water's September Campaign

Thank you for joining us!
The September Campaign has now raised more than $700,000. We’re blown away by your support and hard work.  Some of you donated. More than 2,000 of you gave up your birthdays or started other fundraising campaigns on mycharitywater.org. Even Will and Jada Smith gave up their birthdays. Many more of you helped us spread the incredible story of the Bayaka in Central African Republic — by Tweeting, sharing videos on Facebook and telling your friends. Thank you.

It’s been a crazy month. This year’s Live Drill from the field didn’t quite go according to plan. You might have seen the well collapse on day one, but hopefully you celebrated with us on day two and day three as we found water in a nearby village. We shared it all with you, letting you know where 100% of your money goes when you donate to charity: water projects. We were grateful for your comments, your encouragement and your belief in us.

September Campaign may be over, but the work on the ground is just getting started.

What happens next?

What happens here.
September may be over, but September fundraising campaigns are still going strong -- all campaigns have a life span of three months. If you didn’t have a chance to start a campaign, you can still donate. Our goal is to raise $1.7 million and bring water to 90,000 people. We still have some work to do. We’ll continue to take donations for September Campaign until the end of the year.

What happens there.
In a few weeks, we’ll send the first installment of the money raised to Jim Hocking and his drilling team at ICDI (our local partner in C.A.R.). They’ll start purchasing supplies and shipping them to Central African Republic. If you saw our Digging Wells video, you know this is one of the most challenging steps.
