Thank you GlobalGiving!!!

yesterday, i received a wonderful email from one of my very favorite non-profit organizations; GlobalGiving. for several months now, i have been working with them on a few projects, and just spreading the word about the awesome progress they're making in helping people around the world on my human rights blog More than Me Global. i love volunteering my time to them, writing articles and spotlights on my blog and helping any way i can. i don't have a lot of money to donate but i care about the world and the people in it, and i love feeling like i can help, even just by raising awareness of global issues.

so it was a red-letter day yesterday when i opened my email to read this:

I've read many wonderful posts of yours about the projects on GlobalGiving and just wanted to say THANK YOU. It's passionate supporters like you that help us make the world a better place, one project at a time. Here's a small token of my personal appreciation for your efforts. $100 GlobalGiving gift card, redeemable anytime!

Cheers,

Kevin Conroy
Director of User Experience, GlobalGiving

it feels so good to know that they've noticed! to be told, good job & keep it up! sometimes i wonder if my little blog space is really doing anything helpful, so it's nice to hear YES IT IS!

see peeps! you don't have to so anything big and grand to make a difference- give what you can, do your best with the little time and space you have. we can make our countries, our world, our neighborhoods better one day, one little improvement, at a time. blog to document your life, yes, but also blog to inspire and uplift. be aware of what's happening in the world around you. stay positive and help out in your community wherever you see an opportunity. my dear friend elisha called me the other day, just to say hi and she made my day with that two minute phone call. my friend stacy cleans the yard of her apartment complex- which she does not own or manage- because it makes the neighborhood prettier.  cjane blogged about sharing umbrellas with strangers caught in the rain on her street.  my friend kara does her visiting teaching every month{oy vey! something i can never manage to remember}.  i heard about the twelve year-old dutch girl who gave birth to a baby girl yesterday {the father is her father} and included her in my prayers.

think you can't make your little piece of the world better, or make someone happier, or help someone across the world even?
i don't believe you.
you totally can.
