Tell Congress to act- a letter from RI
Dear Supporter,
Today, Somalia is facing the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. Nearly 25 percent of Somalia’s population has been displaced by ongoing conflict and a food crisis that has affected some 12 million people throughout the entire Horn of Africa. The drought has decimated crops and livestock, forcing millions of refugees to seek help in camps in neighboring Ethiopia and Kenya. Every day the situation worsens throughout the entire region.
Right now, Congress needs to act. Representative Donald Payne has sponsored a Resolution that promotes the U.S. Administration’s current efforts to respond to the crisis and calls on the U.S. government to continue to provide humanitarian assistance to those in need. It also highlights the importance of sustainable agricultural assistance that will prevent this type of tragedy in the future.
We need your help! Please urge your Representative to co-sponsor this resolution.
More than 50 members of Congress have already supported the resolution, but we need your help to call on every Representative to speak out for the victims of this crisis. And if your member has already offered their support, please thank them for their efforts.
Tell Congress to take this important step to end this humanitarian disaster.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Ariela Blätter
Director of Policy and Advocacy
