Take Action

1. Help Pass the International Violence Against Women Act
Did you know that one out of every three women globally will be beaten, coerced into sex, or otherwise abused in her lifetime? We need your help to support a comprehensive vision to reduce violence against women around the world. Urge your Congressional representative to make the International Violence Against Women Act a reality! I-VAWA will improve the effectiveness of our government's programs to prevent violence against women, promote services for survivors and hold perpetrators accountable. Speak out by sending a letter to your congressman today, or go here to send an automated e-letter.

2. Meet the needs of displaced people in SudanWhile the Obama Administration has announced a plan for peace in Sudan, there still needs to be a greater focus on:
-Access for international aid programs and gender-based violence programs in Darfur; -Protection of civilians;
-Prioritization of basic services and security for people returning home from years in exile;
-Contingency planning in case of instability around the 2011 referendum on independence for south Sudan.

Tell President Obama that 2010 is a critical year for the peace processin Sudan and he must do everything he can to ensure that the needs of displaced people are met. Go here to send an automated e-letter to the President
